A Weekend Full of Firsts

We had a great holiday weekend visiting my family in West Michigan.  The drive was long and after 13 hours round trip, we are fairly certain that the girls don't really dig road trips (time to get some portable DVD players??).  However, the fun had by all really made it worth the rough spots along the way.  We visited last summer as well but since the girls were pretty young (8 months), we didn't take them out and about very much (plus the temps were much cooler and it wasn't exactly beach/boat weather).  That wasn't the case this year.  There were all kinds of "firsts" this weekend.

First trip to the beach to play in the sand

First time seeing a lake

And walking along the shore

And putting their toes in the cold water

First visit to Captain Sundae (a Holland landmark)

But only one of my girls likes the tasty treat

(I can't figure out if Amelia doesn't like sweets or doesn't like to try new foods.  Maybe a little of both....)

First ride on Uncle Todd's boat
(quite possibly the highlight of the weekend!)

Pointing to all the bubbles

And just plain having F U N

Thanks Reinkes and Krups for showing us such a good time!  Can't wait to do it again next year!  :)
