We have lots of pictures from the last couple of weeks, but they are still in the camera and probably won't be making their way to the computer any time real soon.  And our wireless network has been giving us trouble the last few days which means the only place to work on the blog is up in the playroom, far away from the girls and their activities.  That leaves me with posting at work during a slow day.  Surely frowned upon, but hey, I need to get caught up a little!  Things were busy at our house for the month of May but by the looks of my calendar, we'll get a bit of break in June before a crazy month of July.

In early May the girls had their 18 month well-check and they are doing just great.  Their growing has slowed down some, but they are still falling in the 50-60ish percentiles in weight and height and their Dr seemed fine with that, so by default, so are we.  :)   We (well, mostly just Me - worrier that I am) had some concern about speech and language development, or lack thereof, but just like the Dr told me at the 15 month appt, 18-24 months is when she sees the words really start to come out. Again, she's OK with where they are at so I am trying to relax and just let both girls go at their own pace.  It can be a bit frustrating when they are trying hard to communicate something to me and I can't understand.  Amelia especially tends get pretty upset.  ***Side Note****  Paul informed me that both girls said "baby" this past weekend and he has declared that their 1st real word.  Although I swear Amelia said "santa" back at Christmas time and I think that was her 1st word.  Of course, they have been babbling words like "mama" and "dada" for months, but I think their official 1st word should be when they say it and know what they are saying...

Later in May, on the 23rd, we celebrated my parent's 40th wedding anniversary.  We took a day trip to Fremont, Ohio to meet up with the rest of my family and we all attended church at the same place where Mom and Dad got married 40 years ago.  After church, we took a limo ride around Fremont and Clyde (1st limo ride for Amelia and Penelope!) and then had lunch together.  Considering the lack of naps and extensive time spent in their car seats and it being the first hot day of the summer, the girls did awfully well.  It certainly helped to have their cousins, B and K, there to entertain and distract.  :)  They also had fun playing with Aunt Brooke and Uncle Todd and Grandma and Grandpa.  And I'm really thankful that the whole family got to spend the day together celebrating!

The end of May brought Paul's 35th birthday.  We celebrated with a family dinner at CiCi's pizza buffet (it was Paul's choice!!) and an ice cream cake the following evening.  The girls seem to be at age where they are absolutely fascinated with other kids.  They didn't eat much pizza, spending the majority of time there staring at all the little kids sitting - and playing - around them.  And if you haven't ever been to CiCi's - it is a family place and typically packed with kids of all ages.  I felt a little bad that they didn't eat much dinner, but at the same time, they quiet staring gave Paul and I chance to enjoy some dinner without feeling super rushed.  Considering we saw some families eat and leave in a matter of minutes, we felt lucky to have the half hour or so.  :)

The rest of the Memorial Day / Birthday weekend was spent watching the Indy 500 and taking a shopping trip to Ikea.  We are doing a room makeover on our living room, from a piano room to an office.  We started the project back in February and will hopefully have it finished soon.  We've got it painted and all big furniture pieces in place.  Now comes the hard part - decorating and organizing the desk space.  Paul and I have a slightly different vision for the final look of the room and we are trying to comprise and just get it done!  Once it's completely done, I will post a before and after picture.  The change is really quite nice and I love having a computer and workspace downstairs.

And that brings us to June and what looks to be a slower month.  Yay!  The girls are now 19 months old - time flies...  And I have been wondering lately, when can we officially stop giving their age in months?  I find it's getting kind of awkward.  I mean really...  I am 415 months old.  :D   It will be nice when they are turn 2 and we can just say 2, 2 1/2, etc  And speaking of turning 2 - it is a mere 5 months away and I'm already starting to think about the party and what theme to use!  I have something in mind - is it too early to order the supplies??

I bought what looks to be a great little climber/slide off Craigslist last night and cannot wait for the girls to try it when we get home tonight.  Amelia caught sight of it in the playroom this morning and was quite upset (crying!) when Paul took her out to the car.  Penelope saw it too, but just smiled and laughed and pointed at it.  I've already got the video camera out on the counter, ready to go.  I hope they love it!  And with predictions for 90 degree weather this weekend, I think it's time to get the pool out for the summer.  So stay tuned....lots of fun times - and pictures and videos - are coming!

In a few months you can probably just say "they're going on 2" and drop the month part. MOM R.
