The girls had their 6 month appt on Thursday and I wanted to share the details. Penelope weighed in at 17lbs (75th%) and measured 25 1/4 inches (35th%). Amelia was also 25 1/4 inches long and weighed 15lbs 14 oz (5oth%). Amelia had a huge jump in her height over the last 2 months, going from the 3rd to 35th percentile, and is closing the weight gap between her and her sister. Maybe one of these days Amelia will be both the older and bigger sister... that's hard to imagine though. :D
They also got more vaccines at this appointment and something interesting happened during their shots. Penelope went first and when she started to cry from the shot, Amelia immediately went from being OK to crying too. I'm still trying to decide if she cried because she sensed she was next or because of some "twin sister" thing and felt Peanut's pain.
So after 2 weeks of rice cereal, we decided it was time to introduce something new. The doctor doesn't seem to think it matters which is first - vegetables or fruit, but I've heard so many old wive's tales about starting veggies before fruits that I went with vegetables. Today they got their first taste of carrots. :D Penelope didn't have much of a reaction and wasn't really all that interested. Amelia, on the other hand, made lots of funny faces and while that made me think she didn't care for it too much, she kept opening her mouth for the spoon so I'm guessing she actually thought it was OK. I also bought some green beans and if all goes well with the carrots over the next few days, we'll try the beans at the end of the week. Fun times!
On a separate note - I'm thinking of changing the layout of the blog. I just need to find a couple free hours to play around with the template... Anyway, don't be surprised if you check in one day and find that it all looks totally different. Stay tuned...
And to all the Moms out there reading this (most especially to my own Mom) - Happy Mother's Day! I have a new found respect for all you do!
